The Isaiah Berlin Catalogue
The IB Catalogue is a fully searchable bibliographical database of over 2,000 works by, and about, Isaiah Berlin. It includes all of Berlin's published works, as well as his interviews, broadcasts, and recordings.
The Catalogue also lists books, articles and theses that either focus on Berlin, or make significant reference to the wide range of ideas and subjects in which he was interested. It is an especially useful resource for those researching pluralism and liberty.
The Catalogue was built by Berlin's editor, Henry Hardy, on his Isaiah Berlin Virtual Library website. We are grateful for his permission to duplicate that record here.
The IB Catalogue is designed to assist scholars in their research on Isaiah Berlin, and the subjects in which he was interested.
Wherever possible it will make available online – either as PDF attachments or URL links – selected published essays, edited transcripts of unpublished material, book reviews, conference proceedings, thesis abstracts, article abstracts, etc.
The Catalogue is constantly updated with new material, so please contact us with suggestions. We welcome comments, corrections, proposals for new bibliographical entries and online content, etc. Email the Isaiah Berlin Legacy Project: berlin@wolfson.ox.ac.uk
The IB Catalogue can be searched by author, title, and date, and any of the following categories:
- Bibliography of IB's writings (prefix Bib.)
- Broadcasts (B)
- Interviews and recordings (I)
- Translations (T)
- Works on IB (O)
Works on IB are further divided into:
- Articles (OA)
- Books (OB)
- Theses (OT)
Translations take their reference number from the original publication, and are listed under that date: thus Karl Marx (1939) is Bib.24, the translations T.24, and the date 1939. A list of abbreviations used in the Catalogue can be found here.
